GRADE 6

Since our last newsletter, Grade 6 have visited Twisted Science in Echuca and the Shepparton Library in order to continue to develop their research skills.

In Science, they have completed experiments that show the working of earthquakes and volcanoes.

Students are learning how to debate and with the support of a couple of grade 5 students, we will be heading to an intercampus debating competition on the 22ndNovember.

Grade 6’s Memories of their time at Sirius. 1st instalment

Fareba’s Memories of Sirius College.

I enjoyed going on camp to Melbourne because it was a chance to get away with my friends and have a lot of laughs. The Melbourne Star was a highlight because the city was so colourful. Dressing up at Captain Cook’s cottage was fun because it allowed us to experience wearing olden day clothes. I also went to the IFLC (International Festival of Language and Culture).

In Grade 5 we went to Sovereign Hill and Kyral Castle as part of our camp. At Sovereign Hill we went gold panning. When we were at Kyral Castle we tried archery and sword fighting.

In Grade 4 we had Harmony Day where we dressed up in our cultural clothes and we shared food.

In Grade 3, this was our first year of our Interschool Sports where we were able to meet up with our friends from other schools.

In Prep we had a Teddy Bear Picnic where we bought our teddies and had a tea party.

Mariam Memories of Sirius College.

In Prep we had Mrs. Pandher for our teacher, she was really nice to all of us. It was really fun when we played games.

We went to the Fairy Park in Grade 2.

As part of the Pastoral Care Program in Grade 4 we all went to Luna Park. One of the excursions we went on in grade 4 was a tall ship in Melbourne where we learnt about the people who lived and survived on the ships 200 years ago.

In grade 6 we went to Urban Camp. We had the most fun at night when we were meant to be sleeping. We went on the Melbourne Star; we also went to the Chinese Museum and the Art Museum. We went to Melbourne Tennis Centre and Parliament House and our tour guide told us how Australia runs. Parliament House had two rooms one red, and one green. We also went to Twisted Science. We learnt how light moves. After, we all sat together and ate at the park. This year as part of our R&V (Religion and Values) classes we visited a number of places of worship including the mosques, churches and temples. In term 3 for our PE (Physical Education) we also participated in t-ball as part of our winter sports and bike education with Wayne.
